Chris Brown has to pay up to his former housekeeper.
On Wednesday (July 1), Billboard reported that the 37-year-old “Under the Influencer” rapper has been ordered to pay nearly $13 million in damages to former housekeeper Maria Avila after a brutal dog attack took place in his home back in 2020.
Following the two-week trial, a Los Angeles jury ruled in favor of Avila, ordering Brown and his company Black Pyramid LLC have to pay her $12.9 million for negligence.

During the trial, Avila shared that in 2020 she was taking the trash out of Brown‘s Tarzana, Calif. home when she was attacked by a 200 lb. Caucasian shepherd named Hades, who was owned by Brown for security details. Avila said that the dog ripped out “large chunks of her skin,” and left her face and arm permanently disfigured. She also said that she has suffered mobility issues as a result of the attack.
Avila‘s sister Patricia, who was also working at Brown‘s house when the attack took place, was also awarded $885,000 and Avila‘s husband Oscar Olivo was awarded $50,000.
Brown detailed finding Avila covered blood and explained his behavior afterward.

“The blood kind of freaked me out,” Brown said during the trial, adding that he was “in shock” and that’s why he fled the scene on his manager’s advice, per the BBC. He also said felt there would be a “media circus” if his voice was heard on the 911 call or if he was present when the police arrived.
The “With You” singer argued that he had warned Avila and her sister against going near the dogs, whom he called “absolutely not” friendly, noting that he kept the dogs for safety as he often finds himself in “stalk-type situations.” However, the sisters claimed the conversation never happened, highlighting their language barrier as making the alleged discussion unlikely.
If you didn’t know, Chris Brown is also in a nasty custody battle over his 4-year-old daughter.
