Reasons to watch: KBS is out to deliver thrills alongside romance in its newest drama, The Husband. Namgoong Min headlines as the titular husband, and he’s joined by Lee Seol, Kim Dae-myung, and
Namgoong Min and Lee Seol are a married couple who have long fallen out of love. Their marriage is hanging on by a thread, made more complicated by their joint wealth and the hospital where Namgoong works as a neurosurgeon and Lee is the board chair. We’re not immediately privy to what caused their marriage to fall apart, but it’s bad enough that one drunken night out, Namgoong Min asks a stranger (played by Kim Dae-myung) to “get rid of” his wife.
Once sober, Namgoong decides to file for divorce–only to be informed that his wife has gone missing. It’ll be no surprise to anyone that he becomes suspect number one in the disappearance. Though he was once desperate to have Lee out of his life, learning that she’s actually in danger changes everything, and he runs into that danger head-first in an attempt to save her.
Namgoong Min and Lee Seol in a moody romance thriller? Yes, please! I find that they both have this compelling, intense energy as actors, so I can’t wait to see them in something that’s dark and with complicated characters and motivations.
