Vicky Krieps, the German-Luxembourg actress who starred in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2017 film The Phantom Thread, and George MacKay, best known for starring in Sam Mendes’ 1917, have joined the growing cast for Warner Bros. Pictures’ untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel.
Lauren Ridloff, who starred on The Walking Dead, and British actor Jack Holden have also been set for the comedic heist thriller. Omar Sy, the French star of Netflix’s Lupin, is in negotiations to also join the call sheet.
The international thespians join a cast that already includes Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, Wagner Moura, Monica Barbaro and Josh Gad.
Cooper is directing on top of starring and producing. Robbie is also starring and producing via her LuckyChap banner. The company’s Tom Ackerley is also producing. The feature is expected to begin shooting in late July in Paris before moving to the South of France.
Warners’ hit Ocean’s movies centered on mastermind Danny Ocean and his pals pulling off elaborate thefts around the world. George Clooney played the character in the films directed by Steven Soderbergh. This one, however, will not see Clooney and company returning.
The new yarn is a period piece, set at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. And Robbie and Cooper are understood to be playing the parents. (Moura is playing the piece’s new villain.)
It is not known who the latest hires are playing.
A June 25, 2027, release date has been set by Warners.
