Teddy Swims is detailing his recent split on a new song.
On Friday (July 10), the 33-year-old Grammy-nominated singer dropped his new song “Break Up in Reverse,” shortly after confirming that he had broken up with girlfriend Raiche Wright. The news comes a year after they welcomed a child together.
In a press release shared with People, Teddy shared that the new song “really hits home for me right now and where I am in my life.”
“Upon writing this song and my next album, I’ve been going through it with my relationship with my baby’s mother coming to an end,” he explained. “So we thought, how beautiful would it be if we took the same idea but wrote it about my relationship.”
On “Break Up in Reverse,” Teddy sings about his thought process of trying to undo a failed relationship.
“I wish we could break up in reverse / Every night would get better instead of getting worse,” Teddy sings. “I’d watch you slowly slip back into my hands / Say goodbye to me in the beginning / And love me in the end.”
In the accompanying music video, a solemn-looking Teddy is surrounded by broken furniture in a smashed-up room. Over the course of the video, which has been reversed, the room is slowly placed back together until it is returned to its perfect state.
Teddy and Raiche were first spotted together at a Grammys pre-party back in February 2025. They announced she was pregnant with their first child in January 2025.
