Reasons to watch: Get ready for spookiness and swooniness in the latest tvN drama, Spooky in Love. Adapted from the 2011 film, Spellbound, Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong headline as our spooky in love leads, with Ong Seung-woo joining them as the second lead.
Park Eun-bin is a fabulously wealthy chaebol heiress who seems to have the perfect life. Everything about her is covetable: business smarts, beauty, the ability to see ghosts–okay, maybe not the ghosts part. Her supernatural ability has shaped her entire life, and she’s always held people at a distance. The distance is both metaphorical and literal; she can both see ghosts and confer her ability unto others with the merest touch, so she makes sure to wear gloves whenever she’s out in public.
But gloves are no match for love our very determined lead, Yang Se-jong. Yang is a talented prosecutor whose only flaw seems to be his ginormous fear of ghosts. In the face of all things supernatural, he turns into a trembling mess. Yet when he meets our heiress by chance and learns of her ghost-seeing ability, he doesn’t flee. Instead, he embraces her crime-fighting potential and asks her to partner up with him to solve cold cases that have languished in the system. She agrees, and as they solve crime and serve justice, the pair find themselves falling hard for each other.
Check this one out for its interesting blend of genres and for the cast. I’m so here for our leads, and the set-up itself sounds so fun. A scaredy-cat who fears ghosts, who falls in love with a woman surrounded by ghosts? I’m in love already.
