It’s been less than a week since Shane Gillis smashed one record in the world of stand-up comedy and became the premier reigning champ in another when he performed solo stand-up in front of the biggest audience of all time. Now, he’s about to enter millions of homes again with season three of his Netflix series Tires, for which the trailer dropped Thursday.
On July 17, Gillis became a two-time Guinness World Records holder when his Lincoln Financial Field show drew 73,946 attendees and sold 77,047 tickets, earning him two titles for attendance at a stand-up comedy event. He returns to the series as co-star and executive producer alongside John McKeever.
Season 3 finds Gillis’ character, Shane, and his cousin, Will (Steve Gerben), now co-owners of the West Chester, Pennsylvania, branch of the family’s struggling auto-repair chain, Valley Forge. As they struggle to keep their business above water, their friendship hits a breaking point, and they begin to look to their past to navigate their future together, according to a release shared by Netflix this week. The series films on location next to one of Gerben’s father’s real-life tire shops; Gillis purchased and built out the store next door, turning a Pennsylvania strip mall half into a Hollywood set.
In addition to Gillis, McKeever and Gerben, who is also a co-creator of the show, the series stars Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church, Chris O’Dowd, Kilah Fox and Stavros Halkias.
The trailer sees the two cousins trading barbs about the timing of their sexual exploits and how subservient a collared shirt makes Gillis’ character appear. Church returns as Gillis’ character’s father, who is seen in the trailer demanding the cousins get the Valley Forge branch together and prevent it from failing.
The workplace comedy premiered in 2024 with a six-episode run and doubled that episode count with season two the following year, as Gillis’ star began to rise. Netflix has confirmed that season three will consist of 12 episodes and will premiere Aug. 12.
Tires is the second production from Gillis and McKeever’s production company, Dad Sick Productions, following Shane’s stand-up special Beautiful Dogs.
