Grantchester, the hit PBS Masterpiece television series, is ending at the end of the 11th season.
New episodes will air weekly on Sundays, with the series finale set to air this summer.
You may be wondering why the series is coming to an end.

The Grantchester showrunner explained why the period piece TV show is ending
Showrunner Daisy Coulam was asked by TV Insider when she knew the show would be ending.
She shared, “From the time we started planning it, we were thinking of it as the last, and that we should go out on a high. It’s been a good run and we’ve had such a lovely time.”

Was the decision to end the show a financial one? Or was it a creative decision?
She responded, “It was a little bit of both, but I would say [executive producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd] took the choice, really. She said, ‘We want to keep making the show the best it can be. Now is the time to end it.’ We could keep going and I think we’d all love to keep going, but I think sometimes you just need to make the decision and then build the final [season] into the best it can be.”
Could Grantchester ever be revived one day?
When asked by Variety, star Rishi Nair said, “I personally think that we should do “Grantchester, the Movie,” and have all the characters come to the U.S. and experience the U.S.”
Al Weaver also added, “I don’t think anyone would be averse to doing a Christmas special, if we ever got asked. That would be lovely. That would be fun to see everyone come back.”
