Kelly Clarkson is joking about her NBC exit.
The 44-year-old three-time Grammy winner made a lighthearted jest about her time at the network on Friday night (July 17) while performing at Caesar’s Palace Vegas amid her Las Vegas residency.
According to Us Weekly, Kelly was stroking a fan’s sequin jacket sleeve when she said, “I would get fired by NBC, but I don’t work there anymore. We are sad about [it because] it was a fun show.”
She continued, “It’s funny, you go to those HR meetings and you’re, like, ‘Nobody on the road would last.’ It’s just a different world, you know? I was 19 on a bus with dudes, what, I can’t do what? ‘Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.’”
Kelly then sung out, “No more HR meetings!” before adding, “I’m just kidding. Everyone actually hated doing HR meetings with me because I am a nerd. I would literally be, like, ‘I’m sorry,’ [and] I would stop the class and everyone would be like, ‘Can I do the meeting without Kelly?’”
Sometimes she would actively want to “get into” each topic planned for discussion and Kelly claims her colleagues would choose not to go to meetings with her present because of it.
“I feel you need to get into it. You gotta protect everyone. Anyway, I don’t have to do it anymore,” Kelly said.
Why is The Kelly Clarkson Show ending?
The Kelly Clarkson Show has aired for seven seasons and more than 1,220 episodes. But in February 2026, the singer revealed she was ending the show to focus on her kids.
Her decision came after her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock died in 2025 following a battle with cancer. Kelly shares her kids River, 11, and Remington, 9, with him.
“I think everybody probably gets the timing,” Kelly explained at the time. “Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit, and it has changed for a minute now, so I think … it’s one of those things when you kinda start seeing life with how it is precious, too.”
The final episodes of her talk show will air in Fall 2026.
