Nara Smith is sharing a glimpse inside her 2-year-old daughter Whimsy‘s cancer battle.
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old content creator revealed that her daughter, whom she shares with husband Lucky Blue Smith, was diagnosed with cancer late last year.
In a new Instagram post shared on Friday (July 3), Nara shared photos from Whimsy‘s cancer journey and shared why she decided to publicly share her diagnosis.
“Little warrior girl,” Nara began the post, which included a photo of Whimsy‘s bald head covered with rhinestones after having her hair shaved off.
“Sharing something this vulnerable wasn’t an easy decision but seeing every message, prayer, story of a similar experience and kindness has made it a little easier,” the TIkToker continued.
“To every family or parent walking through something heavy right now, we’re thinking of you too,” Nara concluded.
The post also included photos of a “Happy Birthday” banner hung up in a hospital room, a children’s cook titled “Princess Lily and the Hair Fairy,” Lucky and a doctor talking next to an MRI machine, and selfie of Nara in bed with Whimsy.
Nara Smith explained how Whimsy got diagnosed
In her original post from earlier this week, Nara shared how they learned of Whimsy‘s cancer diagnosis.
“When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER and they didn’t quite know what to make of it,” she recalled. “When we took her into our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm … My heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”
She added, “After a lot of X-rays, ultrasounds and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said that she had cancer, told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately.”
Nara Smith and Lucky Blue Smith have three other children
Along with Whimsy, Lucky and Nara are also parents to daughter Rumble Honey, 5, son Slim Easy, 4, and daughter Fawnie Golden, who was born in September. Lucky also has a child named Gravity with his ex Stormi Bree.
