Team USA has played its final game in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
United States was defeated by Belgium while playing in the Round of 16 on Monday night (July 6) at Seattle Stadium, also known as Lumen Field, in Seattle, Washington.
Belgium will now advance to the the quarterfinals, playing against Spain on Friday, July 10 in Los Angeles.
Had the U.S. won this game, it would have marked the first time that the team advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals since 2002. And it would have happened while being hosted at home.
Belgium won the game, 4-1. This included a goal that happened in the final seconds of the game, solidifying their win.
The final games of the Round of 16 are set to be played on Tuesday, with Argentina and Egypt facing off against each other in the afternoon and then Switzerland and Colombia playing later in the day. The winners of those games will face off in the quarterfinals.
The quarter-finals for the World Cup will take place across July 9, 10 and 11, follows by the semi-finals on July 14 and 15, and then the final match on July 19.
