What we’re watching (July 11, 2026)

Doctor on the Edge (Completed) – Well, this managed to end without any major disasters, but my overall thoughts are that with better pacing and some of the focus redirected to other characters/situations, this could have been a much better watch. Even if it hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary, it could have been a better showcase for its very talented actors, and something more memorable than it finally ended up being.

Notes from the Last Row (Completed) – When is a morally questionable character fun? When they’re puppeteering an even more questionable character and making them suffer. Last week, when I had just started this, I called it a trainwreck you can’t look away from, and that held through all the way to the end. You know it’s not going to end well, but it’s still fascinating enough to keep you riveted. My only gripe is that the backstory could have been a bit stronger, but other than that, this was well-paced, well-acted (I’m still always surprised when I remember how young Choi Hyun-wook is) and well-executed. I don’t normally pay attention to background scores, but the jazzy, funky, sometimes in-your-face music here was the perfect accompaniment to the unfolding shenanigans, and the slick production values made it a fun watch from start to end.

Agent Kim Reactivated (4/10) – Action and violence aren’t usually my thing, and I wouldn’t normally have gone near this type of show, but everyone online was so enthused about it that I ended up watching it out of FOMO, and… well, while I’m still not a big action fan (though it IS satisfying when the good guy is competent and isn’t always on the losing end of fights), and this show really isn’t doing anything that hasn’t already been done before, I’m now invested in seeing Kim and his daughter reunited. I do like the two friends, and this is thankfully only 10 episodes long, so I guess I’m seeing it through to the end!
