What we’re watching (May 30, 2026)

Current watches:

Filing for Love:
Well let’s see if they manage to tie this one up nicely without wasting time on the side characters, especially the brother who is determined to ruin the company just to satisfy his own greed.

The Legend of Kitchen Soldier:
I am looking forward to finally understanding what is going on with the corruption. It’s ridiculous that there are people serving soldiers rotten food just so they can make money. They need a severe and enduring punishment especially for the way they ruined the reputation and army experience of those who were trying to uncover the plot.

My royal nemesis:
I like this couple a lot and I loved her campaign photos. The other actress is so petty, the women in K dramas come second to the men due to the viewing audience being predominantly female why waste energy fighting amongst yourselves. I had hoped the heiress was going to be an ally 😬

Japanese dramas:

Tatsuki – Too Kind for School
Not watched this week’s episode. It’s drawing to an end next week so I hope he can resolve the issue with his son now that he has helped so many other children deal with their school refusal.

Fukuyadou Honpo – A Kyoto love story
I continue to slow watch this one.

Finished

A piece of your mind
I love the couple, they are so sweet and even though they have their own traumas it’s not an unhealthy relationship. I love their midway brief meet ups whenever they miss each other in the middle of the day. I love the fact they can sleep in peace when they are together. There are some characters that don’t deserve redemption and Inwook is that man. He needed therapy to address his issues but instead destroyed so many lives with his pettiness because he didn’t learn from the experience. He expected everyone to follow his request to just suck it up and yield to his demands. I hated him and could not see how Soonho chose to love a man like that. However, they managed to address his story well.

I loved Hawon’s office corridor with the one way screen and the beautiful snowy scene on the other side.
I thinks its slow paced slice of life storytelling wasn’t a good fit when the world was on fire with the first shutdowns during Covid, but hopefully for those who discover it by chance it gets the love it deserves.

Honey in the wound
The last of the three books I have read that centre on the colonial period. A very powerful story with magical realism.

The Lotus shoes
Tells the story of a girl sold into slavery and her mistress as the grow up during the beginning of the end of the bound feet era. Only just started.

The Lucky ride: An inspiring parable about choices, positive energy and finding happiness
This reminded me of Sophie’s world where the author uses fiction to share some non fiction concepts. I didn’t enjoy either book as I don’t connect with the fictional elements as the characters don’t feel real and the…
