Lee Jun-hyuk exorcises demons in Excitatio

Christening Lee Jun-hyuk (The Art of Sarah) as exorcist and priest, SBS gives us an early look at the hauntings to come in Excitatio (previously Awakening). And we follow our hero into the shadows of the newly dropped special teaser, where we find ourselves in the center of this occult-horror tale at Sung-ryung (meaning, Holy Spirit) Catholic High School.

Father Antonio (Lee Jun-hyuk), you see, has recently been assigned to take on pastoral care at the school and it’s an urgent situation because a sinister presence has been feeding off the student population. Already in the trailer’s open, Antonio confronts one of the students who have become possessed. We then trace the problem back to these mysterious red pills that seem to be sourced by a creepy Yoon Se-ah (Love Me).

She disturbingly likens it to selling your soul to the devil for ‟the greater good.” However, it’s a compelling temptation to impressionable teenagers – including Oh Ye-joo (Phantom Lawyer) – who are struggling amid the fierce competition and are desperate to try even the most far-fetched ideas if it means achieving academic success.

Gong Ha-rang (Oh Ye-joo) is soon frightened, though, sensing and hearing something that has latched onto her like a parasite. At first, she can’t see it. But then everyone and everything at the school starts turning into a nightmare and Ha-rang cries out to Father Antonio for help. The foreboding sequence thus ends with our lone priest standing up to face off against the evil threat.

Helmed by PD Oh Jun-hyuk with scripts by Jang Yoon-mi (Jinxed at First), SBS’s supernatural-mystery series Excitatio is expected to premiere next year, in early 2027.
