A24 has shared the official trailer for upcoming biographical film Tony, about Anthony Bourdain‘s time working in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
The film is based on stories featured in Bourdain‘s 2000 memoir Kitchen Confidential and stars Dominic Sessa in the title role.
“A 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life,” reads the logline shared by A24.
Emilia Jones, Dagmara Dominczyk, Rich Somer, Stavros Halkias, Leo Woodall, and Antonio Banderas also star. Matt Johnson directed.
Tony will be released in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on August 7, followed by a wide release on August 21.
Dominic previously talked about the role, revealing it takes place in the 1975-1976 era and was filmed in Cape Cod.
“It’s a sort of origin story in a way,” he shared in November 2025.
“I’m playing Bourdain sort of, you know ‘75, ‘76, that era, when he was working there in the summers,” he added. There’s also some photos that show him from the film set!
Netflix also just shared the first trailer for its upcoming serial killer thriller The Whisper Man, which will begin streaming in August. Watch it here!
