Chris Brown is pushing back against a request for limited parental rights in an ongoing custody dispute involving his 4-year-old daughter, Lovely Symphani Brown.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the singer is seeking joint legal and physical custody of Lovely after her mother, Diamond Brown, reportedly asked the court to only grant Chris visitation rights instead.
The legal filing marks the latest development in a public dispute that has played out both in court and on social media in recent weeks.
TMZ reports that Chris is also asking that both parties cover their own legal expenses related to the case. Diamond, for her part, reportedly requested that Chris be responsible for those costs.
The custody battle comes after tensions between the former couple spilled onto social media. Diamond previously accused Chris of attempting to interfere with her new relationship by trying to scare off her boyfriend.
The situation escalated when Chris‘ girlfriend, Jada Wallace, entered the conversation online and accused Diamond of preventing Chris from seeing Lovely. Diamond later appeared to suggest she was prepared to confront Jada.
Chris and Jada recently welcomed a baby boy in late April.
Lovely is one of Chris‘ three children. The Grammy-winning singer is also father to 12-year-old Royalty Brown, whom he shares with former model Nia Guzman. He also has a son, Aeko Catori Brown, with ex-girlfriend Ammika Harris.
