A filmed live capture of Hadestown is coming to theaters and the trailer just debuted!
Following the recent debut at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, the movie will get a theatrical release later this summer with the original stars of the Broadway show.
The upcoming pro shot was filmed during a performance of the production on the West End in London, with the original Broadway principals – Reeve Carney (Orpheus), Andre De Shields (Hermes), Amber Gray (Persephone), Eva Noblezada (Eurydice) and Patrick Page (Hades).
Here’s the synopsis: The genre-defying musical blends American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persophone – Hadestown: The Musical invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.
The original Broadway stars of the musical reunited for a limited run on the West End in February and March 2025, six years after they opened the show on Broadway.
If you recall, Reeve and Eva actually met while doing the Broadway show and got married in October 2025. They also starred in Cabaret together in London, and are currently back on Broadway, starring in The Great Gatsby together.
Hadestown: The Musical will release in theaters for five nights only starting July 24th.
