Larry Birkhead is making it known that he does not support the upcoming biopic about the late Anna Nicole Smith‘s doctor.
Trust Me, I’m a Doctor is centered on Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, the doctor implicated in the 2007 death of the model, actress, and reality star. Kal Penn is playing Kapoor in the movie while Anna Nicole is being playing by Abbie Cornish.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight published on July 9, Larry, 53, slammed the movie, saying it causes “harm” for his 19-year-old daughter Dannielyn, whose mother is Anna Nicole.
“We’re not involved in this production,” Larry said. “And we absolutely object to any of Anna Nicole’s, my life, my daughter’s life being used in a movie and being made characters out of by someone who was a doctor that supposedly people were supposed to trust.”

Following Anna Nicole‘s death at 39 from a drug overdose, Kapoor was charged with conspiracy, excessive prescribing of opiates and sedatives to an addict and fraudulently obtaining drugs by using false names. He was later acquitted on all counts and later wrote the memoir titled Trust Me, I’m a Doctor: My Life Before, During and After Anna Nicole Smith in 2017, which serves as the basis for the biopic.
Also in the new interview, Larry shared his thoughts on Abbie, 43, playing Anna Nicole.
“I recently saw the actress that is portraying Anna,” Larry said. “I’m sure she’s probably a nice girl and a great actress but I don’t think she quite embodied Anna Nicole.”

He then stressed that he doesn’t blame Abbie for this, as he believes most actresses that have tried to fill Anna Nicole‘s shoes have fallen short.
“There’s been a Lifetime Movie. There’s been a Law & Order episode,” Larry noted. “I have yet to see someone who actually embodies the spirit and the looks and the persona of Anna Nicole.”
Larry went on to say that he feels like Kapoor has betrayed his trust since the doctor had promised that “his days of doing press and being in the spotlight were over.”

“Fast forward almost 20 years later, and this doctor continues to make the rounds,” the photographer said. “I’ve warned them about the harm and the emotional distress that this puts on not just myself, but also most importantly, Dannielynn.”
Larry also revealed that he filed a complaint with California Medical Board against Kapoor, citing his involvement in this new film.
“I’m just gonna let the process work itself out,” he concluded, “and see what they have to say about that.”
Trust Me, I’m a Doctor is scheduled to be released on October 16.
