Knicks in five!
The New York Knicks just won their first NBA championship in 53 years on Saturday night (June 13) at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The team narrowly defeated the San Antonio Spurs in game five of the 2026 NBA Finals. 94-90, picking up a final point right at the end.
Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson picked up 45 points during the game, helping lead his team to their first championship in decades.
This marks only the Knicks’ third championship since the team started in 1946. Their first was in 1970 and the second in 1973.
Fans of the New York City-based team have been reeling since their game four win, calling for “Knicks in five,” hoping the team would win the championship in just five days.
They won four out five games, though it was a best out of seven. However, after winning four, there was, of course, no way the Spurs were able to take the title.
If the Spurs were to win, this would have marked their sixth championship, with their last win over a decade ago in 2014.
In case you missed it, several celebs made their way to Texas to watch game five of the 2026 NBA Finals.
Congratulations to the New York Knicks!!
